We want all our employees to enjoy a lifetime of careers here, with the flexibility to start in one area of the company and move to a different team, role, or function.

But we also know that planning your next career move can be difficult; some may not even know where to start! That's why we have the Career Center—an interactive space on our Milwaukee campus designed to help employees build and activate their career plans.

We sat down with Marriah, HR Advisor, to learn how she utilized the Career Center to plan her next career move and create her own path here at NM.

Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to your current role at NM?

I am an HR professional with about 10 years of experience in various roles ranging from Payroll to Talent Acquisition. In my previous role at NM, I was a recruiter for our Early Careers Team working directly with our corporate interns, and now I have recently started a new role as an HR advisor.

Can you tell us what prompted you to visit the NM Career Center and how it may have helped you in your career planning?

It was a new resource that was being internally promoted and after being at NM for almost three years, I wanted to explore the different career possibilities here, but I really wasn’t sure where to start. After visiting the Career Center, I was provided with resources and guidance to help me decide on the next step I should take. Ultimately, after assessing my skills and interests, I decided to apply internally for a new role within our People function. By visiting the Career Center, I was able to make the right decision and take the next step I was searching for to advance my career at NM.

What advice would you give to someone considering visiting the NM Careers Center for the first time?

It may seem intimidating at first, but don’t overthink it. Sign up or walk into the Career Center with an open mind about your career journey. Be prepared to speak about yourself, your skills and interests, and what you hope to gain from the conversation. There are so many resources to help people grow, and the Career Center is just the tip of the iceberg!  Take advantage of it!

NM is committed to helping our employees develop their skills and grow their careers. Learn more about how you can take your career to the next level.
