Spotlighting NM’s Employees: Anisha’s Love for People

Here at Northwestern Mutual, everything we do centers around people. Whether it’s through mentorship programs or coffee meetups, we’re invested in taking the time to foster genuine connections with the people that surround us

Meet Anisha, Lead Business Program Manager, who has networked with leaders across the organization to further explore her career interests and build meaningful relationships along the way.

Can you walk us through your career journey here at NM?

So, I started here in April 2020 as an Assistant Director of Client Experience Strategy. In this role, I looked at market impact and analyzed the landscape by taking insights from large data sets, which were then included into decision-making strategies that impacted the entire organization. I did that for about two years until I realized I wanted to go back to program management, which is my first love.

How was that transition from working in client experience to program management?

It was a completely different industry for me. But I think in those first two years, what I really learned was how NM makes money and how important the field is. I learned several critical pieces just from the work I was doing, but then the additional mentorship from senior leaders and different folks across the organization helped broaden my experience and understand the different mindsets of leaders as well.

Can you explain how networking is valued within NM?

Coming into this organization, I've really spent the time building relationships and inserting myself into different conversations that help me understand what’s happening across the enterprise. By thinking about how I can be a better employee and program manager to my business partners, I’m actively learning how the NM ecosystem works. This is how our culture is set up! By encouraging employees to build relationships with folks across the enterprise, you’re gaining incredible knowledge and insights that will help you understand NM better. And employees are very, very,  open to that. Going to lunch, having coffee connects, utilizing the career center, these are experiences to leverage that will expand your NM network and help you gain meaningful insights.
