Third Party Oversight Consultant

Summary:

Conducts third party supplier assessment and monitoring, managing compliance to the TPRM and Supplier Governance Programs across the enterprise. Identifies and monitors supplier related risks and performance through collaboration with business owners, risk domain experts and vendor management offices, maintaining all information pertaining to supplier relationships.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, to facilitate a partnership approach to third party risk management and supplier governance
  • Create and maintain a centralized supplier inventory that is periodically reconciled with supplier master(s), and continuously monitored throughout the Supplier Management Program.
  • Partner with the business and risk stakeholders to ensure third parties are classified based on the inherent and residual risks for the products and/or services provided to Northwestern Mutual.
  • Facilitate the third-party onboarding process, as needed, during the sourcing event to ensure the proper risk and due diligence of a third party is conducted prior to supplier selection.
  • Actively monitor the exception management activities performed by the business to ensure timely remediation or acceptance of identified risks or corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate with Category Management and Business partners the consistent application of the Supplier Management Program Frameworks to suppliers in scope.
  • Identify capable and available third parties within Northwestern Mutual’s approved third party listing or new third parties to take part in sourcing engagements, as needed.
  • Work with S&P Category Managers, Law, and various risk stakeholders to assist Business with developing contracts that include designated third-party risk provisions ensuring active monitoring of such provisions post-contract.
  • Manage the completion of on-going risk management activities and report on instances of non-compliance or other areas of concern.
  • Regularly meet with the Business to perform supplier needs assessments, required training, and ensure the use of proper monitoring and controls to manage supplier relationships.
  • Execute TPRM activities on behalf of the business and other risk specialist groups to ensure coordination of efforts in a timely manner.
  • Support Supplier Governance activities throughout the supplier relationship lifecycle to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Drive incident response process for assigned area, as needed
  • Champion TPRM and ESG activities on behalf of the business and other risk specialist groups to ensure coordination of efforts in a timely manner.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) on TPRM and ESG activities completed throughout the Supplier lifecycle.
  • Oversight of third-party data integrity and inventory management within the appropriate tool.
  • Generate key metrics, reports and supplier dashboards that document the health and stability of the Third-Party Risk Management and Enterprise Supplier Governance Programs on a consistent basis for relevant stakeholders and Northwestern Mutual leadership.
  • Manage and administer TPRM and ESG procedures, tools, and corresponding support materials.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Operations, Engineering, or a relevant area
  • 7 years+ of broad business experience involving Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management, Supplier Operations, Procurement, or other related functions.
  • Applicable experience with Third Party Risk Management, Risk Management, and/or the proactive governance of suppliers. 
  • Experience in ServiceNow VRM or equivalent technology preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking – using logic and reason to solve complex problems and make decisions in a changing environment. 
  • Ability to work effectively across organizational areas in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to influence without authority through developed interpersonal, written, and presentation communication skills.
