What's the role?

The BI tool / Database infrastructure engineering team is responsible for providing stable, secure, and automated reporting and database platforms for the enterprise to use in application deployments. While the main focus of this position will be on the SAS analytics platform, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and work on other BI and Database technologies. As an engineer within the team, you will demonstrate your infrastructure knowledge to build solutions which will improve our platforms and their capabilities.

While your knowledge and skills will focus on the SAS environment, you will need to have a good understanding of infrastructure as a whole, including the tools for implementing infrastructure as code, supervising and alerting, and security. To accurately support the priorities and overall vision of the enterprise, you will provide input into defining long-term strategies and objectives within our BI and database environments, fitting into the overall enterprise vision. Your ability to work as a collaborative team-member and lead through ambiguity will be critical to a successful delivery. A willingness to relentlessly learn and improve yourself, and those around you, is an important part of the position.

Bring your best! what this role needs:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Demonstrated ability in BI/Database Administration or Systems Engineering.

  • Skilled in SAS administration including design, installation, patching/upgrade, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning and trouble shooting.

  • Scripting/coding knowledge – Korn Shell, Ansible, Python

  • Preferred recent experience with database systems

  • Willingness to learn on-premises and cloud database system technologies, such as Business Objects, SQL Server, MSBI, MySQL, Postgres, etc.

  • Preferred familiarity with agile frameworks (Scrum, XP, SAFe, Kanban, etc…)

  • Preferred familiarity in working with source code management tools such as GitLab as well as building/maintaining CICD pipelines

  • Preferred basic proficiency with other infrastructure technologies - for example, server administration, storage, data networking, etc...

  • Ability to detail your work in standard operating plans and procedures

  • Good interpersonal skills and interacting with immediate team members, other IS areas, and clients in other groups

  • Ability to understand priorities for scope, risk and quality of technology solutions to meet business needs

  • Solid focus on continuous learning and being willing to share knowledge with others

  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions
