We are actively seeking an upbeat, innovative Sr Business Analyst to join Northwestern Mutual’s CX Strategy - Data team. We are looking for an individual who can perform the analysis of data needs across client journeys, create an approach to address opportunities, and deliver on the vision of unifying the use of client data across the experiences and journeys. The ideal candidate will be able to operate in ambiguous situations, think laterally, and make decisions in a data-driven manner.

What's This Role?

The CX Strategy - Data team – Sr Business Analyst role involves leading the analysis to advance the use of client data for all experiences (Client, Field, and Corporate) and across all journeys. This role partners across our 5 signature client Journeys and Digital Product teams to help make strategic recommendations advancing the efficient use and improving the quality of client data. This role sits at the intersection of experience design, product planning, and enterprise data to help us strategize and plan for a cohesive, differentiated experiences and journeys.

Key focus areas include:

  • Partner with journey leadership to define business outcomes across the entire client data lifecycle by continually thinking about the efficient and effective use of client data for all experiences.

  • Lead the build out of current and future state data processes by partnering with key collaborators (e.g., product, core data, engineering, design, etc.) to bring vision to life. Uncover opportunities and quantify benefits for prioritization.

  • Lead workshops with cross-functional teams to conceptualize changes to data usage and availability, synthesize, design, and gather feedback on proposed solutions.

  • Embrace being a change agent by adopting new ways of working and building toward joint outcomes.

  • Provide insights from journey strategies to inform overall vision and end-to-end outcomes. Connect the dots across individual journeys to ensure cohesive end-to-end experience build out.

  • Lead the development of business cases to garner funding including strategy, cost benefit analysis, strategy decomposed into strategic work efforts and dependency analysis.

  • Support development of presentations to synthesize recommendations for CX leadership and journey owners.

  • Contributing to a strategic roadmap to deliver the effective collection, maintenance, and availability of client data across all experiences and journeys.

  • Defining solutions that break down data silos between processes, systems, & platforms and support cohesive experiences for our client, field, and home office audiences.

  • Implementing innovative approaches that enhance all experiences and shape the way Northwestern Mutual delivers on fulfilling the financial goals of clients.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

Business Analysis Expertise : Deep expertise in at least one client journey or domain with a broad understanding of business and domains across financial systems. Experience in developing new ideas into practical work efforts within the organization by understanding how client data is consumed across platforms. Experience in documenting process flows at a user and system level, seeing opportunities and benefits, and turning those opportunities into actionable high-level plans.

Data-driven decision-maker : Consistently demonstrates the ability to leverage data, insights, and information to drive practical results that move the needle for the organization.

Communication Skills : Front-stage presence and ability to offer compelling storytelling across journey leadership & other essential team members; ability to create presentations for a wide-variety of audiences. Provide coordination and status reporting across efforts as they are implemented. Talent for cultivating and maintaining relationships with collaborators while aligning on disparate points of view; build rapport and influence decisions at all levels of management.

Problem-solver : Thrives to find solutions to difficult or complex problems in a structured, hypothesis driven manner.

Cross-functional collaborator : Have excellent capability working cross-functionally with various stakeholder (e.g. product, core data, engineering, design, etc.)

Knowledge, skills, and abilities : Highly proficient in the MS suite of tools especially PowerPoint. Experience in tools used to document processes such as Visio.

Minimum of 5 years of work experience:  Specifically driving process analysis and/or leading strategic, transformational data initiatives

Education: Bachelor’s degree
