Software Engineering Manager

Are you a hard-working servant leader with experience leading a successful team and delivering innovative solutions? The Policy Benefits Engineering team is looking to hire an experienced manager who will lead a team of full-stack engineers to build the next-generation Policy Benefits Technology Ecosystem.

You will be responsible for delivering technology solutions across a range of technologies including front end UI solutions, data integration microservices, automation and reporting capabilities. You will bring out the very best in your team, and will partner closely with architecture, lead engineers, SME's, testers, business analysts and product owners to craft software that our end-users love. You will manage a team of high-performers, and will be responsible for ensuring they are engaged, challenged, and growing in their careers.

What will your day-to-day look like?

You will prioritize and scope work, estimate complex deliverables, manage projects, groom the backlog, drive and define team-level metrics, remove impediments, advance urgent issues, review code, and manage interactions with other development teams within the LTC space. You will ensure work you're doing meets end-user needs, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

You will be empowered by a mature interpersonal structure, supported by business and technical SME's, infrastructure and data experts, program managers, and senior leaders. Your team will build cloud-based and hybrid solutions primarily using React and Node.js, Java Springboot demonstrating a variety of mature and automated code-quality and testing suites, CI/CD tools, and monitoring frameworks. These include GitLab, Jest, Cypress, Terraform, Flyway, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Dynatrace, New Relic, and Selenium.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical leadership to team.

  • Establishes, aggregates, and shares team standards and best practices across department.

  • Mentors, guides and coaches engineers within their division for technical and leadership growth

  • Recruits , hires and onboards talent within respective department, ensuring the right mix of talent within team.

  • Ensures production stability, monitoring, and root cause analysis for their products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • 4-5 years of professional experience required

  • 3-5+ years of experience working with modern engineering tools, languages and practices.

  • 1-2 years technical leadership with or without direct reports.

  • Proven track record of successfully crafting and delivering significant and impactful technology solutions.

  • Experience developing and leading solution delivery using agile methods.

  • Capable of presenting between product, engineering, and the business.

  • Ability to successfully communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences in varying forms and levels of detail.

  • Leads the team through strong collaboration.
