The Illustrations platform is part of our Field Experience (FX) suite of tools that ensure a positive experience for our financial representatives. This platform empowers our financial representatives to demonstrate the value of our products as part of the planning process. Every new and existing customer sees the results of this tool before deciding on a Northwestern Mutual product.

To excel in this role you'll need to be eager to understand the life insurance business domain and passionate about software craftsmanship. You should be comfortable maintaining applications with established code bases and willing to explore up to date approaches to tackle new challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent professional experience

  • Experience developing RESTful web services in ASP.NET Core

  • Familiarity with GraphQL

  • Experience with Git

  • Willingness to contribute to the entire software delivery life-cycle: Specification, Design, Build, Test, Deploy and Support.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Integrate the Illustrations system with enterprise data services.

  • Automate the production of illustrations.

  • Join a small team of dedicated software engineers to increase the stability, security and performance of the Illustrations platform.

Further impress us with:

  • Containerization with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS.

  • Experience developing RESTful web services in Node with TypeScript

  • Data persistence with DynamoDB, MySQL

  • GitLab CI/CD.

  • Linux shell scripting with bash

  • Experience working with Agile project management methodologies with Jira

  • Experience in Financial Services
