Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Description: The Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, Wisconsin will work on application programming in mainframe PL1 based on business requirements and application modernization by rewriting business functionality in JAVA. Create mainframe RESTFUL services to expose mainframe business logic. Prepare technical design documents and act as a consultant for teams developing mainframe RESTFUL services. Analyze the legacy system written on C++, .NET and prepare application flow documents. Participate in technical design meetings, develop unit testing. Work with business to understand the business requirements, provide impact analysis, and design and Jira documentation. Write automated and manual unit tests. Participate in scrum team setting, dev ops framework and in continuous integration and development methods. Utilize various IBM tools including FAULT ANALYZER, IDZ, CHANGEMAN, SPUFI, InfoSphere Optim. Utilize various tools including Eclipse, Rational Application Developer, DynaTrace, SonarQube and Ubuntu.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related engineering field plus 8 years of software development experience. 8 years of experience must include 5 years of experience with each of the following: (1) mainframe programming technologies including PL/I, Cobol, ChangeMan, CICS, JCL; (2) FAULT ANALYZER, IDZ, and SPUFI; and (3) analyzing, designing, developing, deploying and supporting software solutions and infrastructure implementations and upgrades.
