Software Development Engineer in Test

At Northwestern Mutual, we are strong, innovative and growing. We invest in our people. We care and make a positive difference.

**No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we'd love to learn more about you!**

What are we building?

We're building a new Payments Platform for Northwestern Mutual called the Enterprise Payments Network (EPN) using the latest technologies on AWS. We're a year into our journey and there's a lot of new capabilities we need you to help us build. Tech stack and dev tools we are using are Node.js, Typescript, Kafka, DynamoDB, Lambda, Kubernetes, Postman, Kevlar, Cucumber...

The EPN program has several agile-scrum teams that operate together as a part of a program organized using the Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe). On your scrum team there will be engineers holding roles as scrum master, devops, QA, and leads. There will also be a business analyst/product owner. We have a testing group outside the teams as well that help us coordinate and test the larger platform and integrating teams. There are also designers, architects, and program managers working outside the team to help build the runway of work coming to your team.

As a technical, hands-on Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) your job is to participate in the manual & automation testing of our Enterprise Payment Network business applications. You will be part of a team that has a high degree of test automation and is looking to build upon an already-established, mature testing process. Your role will be that of a “full-stack” QA Engineer - someone who has a strong appreciation and skill in software engineering with the capability of writing manual & automated and performance tests (time and training is allotted after hiring to learn our tech stack and frameworks).

This position is a Milwaukee corporate office position. We are currently working entirely remotely due to covid. Until it's determined to be safe this position will remain as a remote position, with office time voluntary. As we've started thinking about what return to campus would be like we're going to go to a Tue/Wed/Thr in the office and Mon/Fri - locate for your day schedule.
