Senior Test Engineer

The Senior Test Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will partner with business stakeholders and developers to identify data needs and create detailed test plans for stories. Review and provide feedback on MRs in Gitlab. Participate in regular scrum meetings, including stand-ups, retros, and refinements. Debug and troubleshoot issues or failing test cases using Swagger and Postman. Manually test individual stories as well as end-to-end functionality within the application. Automate workflows using our in-house framework based in Javascript and node and automate API tests using Postman. Submit detailed bug reports for issues found in testing using JIRA. Regularly update CI/CD templates to integrate new tests and technology. Inspect schema and form queries in the GraphQL Layer. Promote microservices to higher test environments in preparation for releases and perform checkout before and after releases to ensure stability and successful implementation. Coordinate with external teams to test policy processing across integrated systems. Coach and mentor less experienced team members on testing strategies and techniques, as well as partner with other business stakeholders. Telecommuting permitted. Salary $108,326 - $165,490 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related field plus 5 years of test engineering experience. 5  years of experience must include 5 years with each of the following: (1) Datawarehouse, Structure Query Language (SQL), and ETL mappings testing; (2) writing SQL; (3) validating business use case scenarios and results of mainframe reports in DB2 database; (4) developing and executing automation scripts using Ruby cucumber and Node JS; (5) source version control and code repository tools including GITHub and Gitlab; (6)  agile methodology projects; (7) (PI) planning, retrospective, sprint reviews, and release planning; and (8) API testing and validation using JavaScript Object Notation payload requests and REST API calls.
