Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer
Job Description: The Senior Systems Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, WI will collaborate with product management, developers, and other engineers to prioritize automation. Apply engineering best practices to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support software solutions, and implementations/upgrade infrastructure. Develop software and systems on test driven development and continuous integration practices. Develop and maintain automated solutions to meet given specifications and defined tasks using REXX, PL/1, COBOL, ISPF panels, or JCL. Support third party vendor software, including configuration, upgrades, patches, and enhancements. Participate in writing and developing tools to meet given specifications and defined tasks. Support a 24 X 7 environment and escalate issues as appropriate. Practice Agile methodologies to implement technical application requirements. Proactively monitor to prevent and resolve application system issues and incidents. Ensure SLAs are maintained and systems are built for sustainability. Telecommuting permissible 1 day per week. Salary $125,000 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field plus 7 years of mainframe information technology experience. 7 years of experience must include 4 years of experience with each of the following: (1) software development in the insurance industry; (2) z/OS systems, JES2, JES3, JCL, and TSO; (3) PL/1 and either REXX or COBOL; (4) Changeman/ERO or Endevor; (5) Restful APIs and JSON; (6) DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ; (7) IDz, Eclipse Tools, and SPUFI; (8) Development Methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid; and (9) complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
