Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Job Description: The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in New York, New York will implement the software applications including technical design of application’s specifications. Write well designed, efficient, quality source code of various applications according to the industry-standard best practices. Ensure applications are secure, scalable, sustainable solution options aligned with future-state platform architecture and technology. Work collaboratively with other developers in the team to review, test, and debug the source code of the software applications. Write source code for various complex applications, solve complex software application or design problems, and configure the applications to build and deploy the applications using continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools. Implement the new features to the existing software applications. Provide source code fixes to the defects, refactor the code, optimize the code, and investigate code smells and security vulnerabilities of any in the code during the software development life cycle. Collaborate in the team environment to promote, mentor, and communicate best practices in modern development, quality assurance, and test automation.
Minimum Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 5 years of experience developing software. The 5 years of experience must include 5 years of experience with each of the following: (1) developing object oriented software; (2) using core Java, design patterns, Spring framework, RESTful web service, SQL, and WebSphere App Server; (3) Linux/Unix shell scripting; (4) using Spring JDBC; and (5) using Eclipse or IntelliJ. Must also have one year of work experience in each of the following: (1) Java Script and React JS; (2) Behavior Driven Development (BDD) in Cucumber, Test Driven Development (TDD), Test Automation (Selenium); and (3) Jenkins, Node JS, CI/CD, GitLab, SonarQube and TwistLock.
