Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Job Description: The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, Wisconsin will apply engineering best practices in order to analyze, design, develop, deploy and support software solutions, and/or infrastructure implementations and upgrades. Develop software and systems on test driven development and continuous integration practices, establish monitoring and automation processes. Document and demonstrate solutions by developing System flow diagram, layouts and System Appreciation document. Improve operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures and modernize legacy batch applications. Provide day-to-day mentoring and coaching to less experienced professionals. Work with Agile methodologies/DevOps environments. Work in a DevOps environment with diverse tasks. Work with various platforms such Front End, Back End, Cloud, .net, Java, Full Stack. Design rich websites and web-based applications. Comprehend and work with RESTful APIs. Contribute to the innovation of software solution development. Clarify technical solutions to technical teams and non-technical teams. Work with git code management. Translate user stories and wireframes into high quality code. Collaborate on right-sizing decisions, software solutions, and services. Focus on strategic advancement of the following front-end development tools such as NPM, Postman, Chrome Dev Tools. Utilize experience gained working with vendor platforms to integrate Northwestern Mutual systems.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field plus six years of software development experience. Six years of work experience must include six years of experience with each of the following: (1) Mainframes Programming including PL/1, SAS, JCL, MQ, COBOL, and VSAM; and (2) Database including DB2 and Oracle. Must also have three years of experience with object-oriented programming and design in Core Java, Java Springs framework, and RESTful services; and Agile practices.
