Senior Software Engineer

What's the role?

On our team you will apply engineering methodologies to craft, develop, deploy and support software solutions, and/or infrastructure implementations/upgrades. You will be responsible for monitoring test driven development by working on automation processes. Along with moving between diverse tasks with cooperation and persistence, helping to bring out the best in those around you.


  • Providing technical leadership within a software engineering Scrum team, leading by example and coordinating the activities of others on the team as well as dependencies with other teams.

  • Contributes to ensuring a high standard of reliability, performance and production stability in applications and services owned and supported by the team.

  • Contributes as assigned to refinement of features allocated to the team, as well as solution definition and decomposition into stories.

  • Partners with peer engineers across Illustrations to avoid silos and achieve outcomes optimized for the larger engineering team and the needs of the business.

  • Leads engineering efforts as assigned, ensuring features are completed and deployed by dates committed to in quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning, and overcoming challenges as needed.

  • Ability to take initiative and work with limited direction, yet actively interact with other onsite/offshore/remote team members.

  • Contribute to an inclusive culture on our team, models what we value and behaviors, and encourages collaboration and respect for diverse perspectives.

  • Establishes and promotes standards and best practices within the team.

  • Ensure high quality code is achieved through testing and code reviews

  • Develop and grow through training, mentoring, and coaching

  • Willingness to learn new technologies, applications and easily adapt to changing priorities.


  • Advanced skill and understanding of technologies like Java and .NET

  • 4-5 + years professional software development experience required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Proven critical thinking, ownership approach and continuous learning ability

  • Capable of optimally communicating with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

  • Managing your own time to meet objectives.

  • Ability to perform peer reviews on code and designs.

  • Shown understanding of design patterns and software architecture principles.

  • Experience working with ReactJS, Node.JS and AWS

This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
