Senior Project Manager

Northwestern Mutual is looking for a strong Senior Project Manager, who will lead the execution of projects, providing project management expertise to the EIRC (Enterprise Information Risk & Cybersecurity) Operations team.

What's the role?

  • Accountable for defining and managing scope, schedule, cost, and quality. Including the monitoring of day-to-day progress, execution, management and closure of an individual project within the approved scope, schedule and cost.

  • Responsible for optimizing our knowledge management content for the department

  • Other responsibilities may be assigned such as financial and operational support

  • Assign, lead and track complex resources, regrouping as priorities and objectives necessitate, to achieve key milestones and accomplish optimal project results.

  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques to help with the successful completion of short and long-term goals.

  • With department management, defines the objectives to be accomplished by the project team. With the team, develops the project plan. Directs team members to determine the best methods to achieve the projects objectives. Allocates staff and budget resources required to achieve project objectives.

  • Identifies and solves a range of problem. Analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures, developing a recommended approach.

  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and revising project deliverables, as well as gathering and delivering metrics.

  • Explains information and persuades others in straightforward situations. Effectively interact, negotiate and influence project teams and business partners to provide acceptable solutions and results.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred with experience/knowledge in processes and project management to include analysis, documentation.

  • Ability to work with general direction to scope, plan and manage multiple department projects

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large and highly complex assignments.

  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Written and oral communications skills with the ability to build rapport within the company, field and /or outside vendors.

  • Familiarity with an Agile development environment

  • Self-directed and detailed, with creative brainstorming skills

This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
