Senior High-Net-Worth Planning Attorney

We are seeking an Attorney to be part of our High-Net-Worth Concierge Planning team. The role of this team is to partner with NM’s top advisors and their teams to develop and deliver plans and other solutions to high net worth clients with complex wealth transfer, tax, business succession, and charitable planning needs. We provide expertise and innovative solutions that differentiate NM and our Advisors working with High Net-Worth clientele.

What's the role?

Reporting to the Vice President of Concierge Planning, the  Senior High Net-Worth Planning Attorney  collaborates with other financial professionals on the team (CFP, CFA, CPA, MBA), guides across the company’s headquarters and top advisors and firms across the country. This individual possesses deep knowledge from a variety of areas including sophisticated wealth transfer strategies, individual tax (primarily estate, but income is a plus), securities-based compensation, business succession, and liquidity planning. Mentoring less experienced Attorneys is also a critical part of the role.

To be successful in this role, this individual must be able to communicate their knowledge in an understandable way both to advisors and clients. The individual will have a results-oriented approach. More specifically an understanding of the business of a wealth management advisor and firm. It is expected the individual will learn about NM’s insurance and investment solutions and high-net-worth platform to identify issues and opportunities. The individual will develop thought leadership content and present to internal and external audiences to advance NM’s growth in the High-Net-Worth market.

Bring your best! What the role requires:

  • Bachelor's degree and JD from accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in at least one state
  • 12 years’ experience in a law firm or related work in financial services company
  • Deep knowledge in one of more areas-business succession planning, executive compensation, wealth transfer planning, income and estate tax planning, family office services and ultra-high net worth planning ($25m)
  • Client centric written and presentation skills
  • Experience explaining complex concepts in understandable terms to advisors and clients
  • Ability to drive business results in partnership with colleagues and financial advisors
  • CFP designation preferred
  • Series 6 or 7 within 1 year.
