Senior Director, Strategic Workforce Planning Business Partner

In this role you will deliver on one of the company’s top priorities, which is to enable Northwestern Mutual’s multiyear strategy by understanding talent needs and translating them into future-proof talent strategies. You will use your keen understanding of business planning and talent practices to help your partners understand their talent needs for now, near, and far, and build multiyear talent roadmaps to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time with the right skills to achieve business goals.

You will report to the Vice President of Strategic Workforce Planning and be part of the team orchestrating this effort across the enterprise.

What's the Role?

Strategic Workforce Planning:

  • Understand business strategy and multiyear plans, the associated workforce needs, and the impact of internal & external market factors
  • Use these insights to help your partners anticipate future talent needs to translate them into talent strategies
  • Use internal and external data, trends, analytics, and insights to assess talent supply and demand, talent gaps, and model future scenarios to accurately identify and prioritize talent risks and opportunities

Operational Workforce Planning:

  • Facilitate resource planning to understand labor supply and demand for specific initiatives and operational needs, and advise project and talent plans
  • Facilitate headcount demand planning by understanding headcount supply and forecasting demand based on business, financial, market factors

Change Management and Influence:

  • Partner with HR leadership, business, and other collaborators as partners to scale workforce planning, managing change and providing support where needed

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10 + years demonstrated ability with 5+ years in a strategic workforce planning or HR business partner role with involvement in HR, business, and financial planning.
  • Keen understanding and future-focus on business, talent market, competitive environment, and work trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with forecasting and data analysis in a strategic context.
