What's the role?

Located in Milwaukee, WI, or New York City and reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Communications & PR as the Senior Director – Strategic Communications (Technology) you will lead the development and direction of communication strategies helping to advance the company’s technology priorities to achieve business objectives. Partners with key team members to align communication messaging and activities across employee, field and external audiences, that is aligned to the company strategy/company narrative.

You will play a lead communications counselor role to the technology leadership team and create thought leadership opportunities to elevate the role of technology within the company. Develop well-rounded messaging and associated content for internal and external audiences, including the Board of Trustees, Policyowners Examining Committee, Employees, Financial Advisors, as well as presentations at field meetings, network office visits and internal thought leadership events.

You will be a team leader to a group of passionate professionals (5+) to achieve important metrics. And, you will cultivate a collaborative network with other strategic communicators to ensure alignment and integration to strengthen and reinforce the company narrative across audiences. You will maintain a thorough understanding of current company priorities and issues and proactively anticipate emerging opportunities and issues.

How you will do it:

  • Broaden awareness among employees and advisors and increase support for enterprise Technology priorities helping to enable the business.

  • Actively partner cross-functionally for message and priority alignment at various levels with home office, field, and client audiences.

  • Actively partner within the function and cross-functionally to align communication strategy with organizational change occurring within the business.

  • Identify communication opportunities and solutions and define and implement appropriate strategies to support them while also measuring and improving communication effectiveness.

Bring your best! What this role needs:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Communications, Marketing, or other relevant area, plus 10 years of broad business experience at a leadership level involving communications, marketing, program development, or strategic planning.

  • Proven leadership skills including organizational and strategic agility, enterprise and integrative thinking, business acumen, influence, and leading with vision and purpose.

  • Team leader who motivates and sets clear objectives and critical metrics to achieve set goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective critical communication programs and executive communication including excellent writing skills.

  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across organizational areas in a matrix environment.

  • Experience working with executive-level leaders in the home office and the field in a significant advisory and leadership capacity
