Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the company's reinsurance programs and be the primary point of contact for our reinsurance relationships.
- Secure cost-effective reinsurance agreements, ensuring reinsurers meet our financial requirements and operational needs, negotiating treaties, exploring potential reinsurance engagements, and supporting accurate and efficient administration of our reinsurance programs.
- Provide professional actuarial advice and services to Northwestern Mutual by assisting in the achievement of overall Company goals by functioning as a leader of team activities, direction of subordinates and/or through individual performance. Act as a consultant to team members and train Actuarial Officers and Specialists.
- Provide actuarial advice and services within the incumbent's charge, including the preparation of studies and reports and other actuarial services as required.
- Manage team and/or departmental projects to meet departmental goals.
- Guide and supervise other officers or other members of the department within the incumbent's field of responsibility and competence.
- Carry out specific projects for the Actuarial Department, other departments or standing committees.
- Provide Actuarial consultation for other officers and members of the actuarial staff regarding activities of the department, and also for members of other departments requiring actuarial advice and services.
Qualifications
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or other related field
- Five to seven years of significant Actuarial experience.
- Substantial knowledge and experience in a variety of actuarial subjects.
- Ability to manage interdepartmental projects and to direct activities of subordinates who are at the officer level.
- High degree of expertise in reinsurance activities.
- Knowledge of Company, industry and regulatory practice and procedures.
