Job Title: Senior Data Integration Engineer
Job Description: The Senior Data Integration Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will perform batch and near real-time data integration. Conduct data integration, development and support. Utilize ETL and Informatica. Work with relational databases including DB2 LUW, MySQL, Sybase and DB2 z/os. Write and review complex SQL statements, performance tuning. Utilize Unix/Linux scripting and Java. Apply data security experience. Work with cloud data solutions. Leverage kafka platform to migrate data between on premise and cloud data systems. Perform development methodologies across various technologies. Analyze and solve complex issues independently. Collaborate with other IT professionals in multiple levels of organization. Design and perform data extraction, assessments, translation, transformation and load (ETL) processes. Responsible for building data equity, its underlying code, tools, databases and related infrastructure. Administer and maintain existing data engineering pipelines. Translate strategic needs into engineering goals and milestones. Analyze data needs and identify available internal and external sources. Utilize business and analytical data modeling skills to design data integration and structure approaches. Utilize programing skills to access and extract data from diverse sources residing on multiple platforms and implement large, complex data models by combining, synthesizing and structuring data from databases, files and spreadsheets. Assure data consistency and reliability. Provide support of integrated data environment in production, respond to and resolve data issues, and troubleshoot system outages. Perform quality checks, contribute to metadata and data dictionaries, documents, repeatable extract, transform and load processes. Provide coaching and guidance to less experienced engineers. Apply experience in data engineering. Utilize experience with data systems architecture, designing larger scales data engineering solutions, breaking down to smaller goals, prioritization. Use experience with relational data engineering ecosystems, including complex disbursed data. Utilize understanding and experience with analytics. Work with Agile methodologies/Dev Ops environment. Apply experience with database administration, Cloud and financial services industry. Utilize project management experience and work on a project from conception to delivery.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Applications or a related field plus six years of software development experience. Six years of experience must include three years of experience with each of the following: (1) relational data engineering ecosystems; (2) batch and real-time data integration patterns including ETL experience (Informatica), data replication, data streaming, and virtualization; (3) writing and executing SQLs; (4) AWS Cloud experience with Kafka, API’s, and Ansible; (5) building CICD pipeline for deployments; (6) end-to-end data engineering solutions; and (7) Agile methodologies and DevOps environment.
