Senior Data Governance Specialist

The Sr. Data Governance Specialist will assist in the application and implementation procedures of data standards and guidelines on data ownership, coding structures and replication to ensure access to and integrity of data sets!

This resource will also ensure master data integrity in key systems and maintain the processes of the data quality. Other responsibilities include: ensure quality of master data in key systems, development and documentation of processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity.

Collaboration with subject matter experts and data stewards to define and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure and reliable is also key!

In addition, this lead will aid in resolving data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection, correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and data stewards.

  • Ensure the curation of metadata (Technical, Operational, and Business) across our governed assets.

  • Lead, analyze and resolve data initiative issues and handles revisions needed to best meet internal and customer requirements while adhering to published data standards.

  • Assist in data governance and data quality of master data requirements with other functional data owners to ensure functional master data integrity across the operation of financial systems is consistent and meets stated business rules and requirements.

  • Work closely with the business/IT to ensure alignment of rules and the operations of the application meet all requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in information science, data management, computer science or related field preferred

  • Five or more years of experience in data management, data governance, or data quality

  • Knowledge working with industry standards, regulations, and guidelines specific to data

  • Experience working with a Data Quality software packages

  • Experience working with data catalog and discovery software packages

  • Professional experience with relational databases

  • Good personal computer and business solutions software skills

  • Good communication skills to communicate with customers, team members, external data providers and management

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experiencing acting as a leader with vision within an organization


This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
