About this role:

We’re looking to bring a senior copywriter into the fold of our growing in-house creative group made up of some our favorite people from some of the best agencies around. We need someone who is curious and ready to dig into new and unexpected ways to educate people on personal finance and help them manage it. Our goal is to help people make the most of their money, so they can worry less and live more.

This Copywriter has mastered the art of turning something complicated and/or confusing (like financial products and services) into something easy to understand that people want to know more (even get excited) about. They relish in relevance and love working and collaborating with other writers, designers, user experience designers, and more. We are seeking someone comfortable creating and presenting copy that’s fresh, strategic, and always on-brand.

On any given day you might:

  • Take on the role of primary writer for Northwestern Mutual financial services products including brochures, emails, landing pages, and more

  • Craft copy for both business-to-business and consumer-facing audiences

  • Tell stories that align with and build the Northwestern Mutual brand

  • Collaborate with visual designers to turn culturally relevant insights into powerful and beautifully rendered work

  • Work with producers, project managers, and business partners to make sure copy is delivered on time and in line with the team’s expectations

The ideal person:

  • Can manage multiple jobs and projects

  • Has ample experience working with and presenting to clients and managers of all levels

  • Has outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills and a passion for the craft

  • Can look at financial brands from a fresh angle

  • Has strong knowledge of email and web site best practices and technology, and is experienced in print

  • Has a collaborative work ethic

  • Thrives in agile/nimble environments

  • Is an experienced multi-tasker and is not intimidated by the thought of juggling multiple projects at once

You bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in advertising or product marketing copywriting

  • Your amazing online portfolio

  • BA/BS degree in Advertising, Journalism, Writing, or related area of study
