What's the role?

The Senior Communications Specialist-Technology works with the Technology Strategic Communications team to help develop, manage, and implement communications initiatives to support and advance the company’s technology priorities to achieve business objectives. You’ll work with a variety of business partners to understand business objectives, and then deliver communications plans, events and experiences that inform and influence leader, employee and field audiences. You’ll help define communication objectives, write key messages and stories, create assets (communication plans, newsletters, talking points, articles, videos, etc.), and determine delivery strategies. What you do builds awareness and understanding of the Technology function with audiences and achieves positive impact for business outcomes. Through close collaboration with colleagues, you’ll brainstorm innovative communications ideas and approaches and demonstrate effectiveness through metrics measurement and program assessment. This role is focused on the Technology function as well as on Technology department-level initiatives and campaigns that support function / company priorities and increase engagement. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with a top-notch team of professionals where your ideas, energy, creativity and commitment to excellence are both welcomed and expected.

  

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations or related field that requires a demonstrated proficiency in writing, asset development and measurement.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in professional corporate communications, public relations, journalism or related communication field with a proven portfolio of business writing and media management.
  • Experience in corporate technology communications and/or retail investment products communications – including client communications about investment markets and/or products is a plus.
  • Proactive professional who has ability to collaborate, build rapport with business partners and colleagues, provide counsel, and develop productive working relationships at all levels.
  • Strong writer with ability to quickly grasp complex information, synthesize and distill concepts by writing for a variety of audiences. Strong verbal communications skills.
  • Versatility to learn about and work with a variety of business areas and topics.
  • Demonstrated experience with communication planning, objective setting, and key message development based on analysis of business problem/opportunities.
  • Highly organized with project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Passionate about problem-solving. Ability to question the status quo and develop innovative ways to advance business objectives through communications.
  • Ability to identify communication opportunities and solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them while also measuring and improving communication effectiveness.
  • Able to distill large quantities of information down to succinct, easy-to-understand messages.
  • Requires knowledge of: theories of mass communication; best practices in organizational communication; theories of persuasion; media channel effectiveness; print, audio, video, and web-based production methods.
