Northwestern Mutual (NM) is looking for a passionate, strategic communications professional that is enthusiastic about delivering exceptional client experiences. As part of the Client Communications team in Marketing, this role will drive critical improvements to our new business and purchase journeys by optimizing client and field touchpoint strategies, communications, marketing materials, and digital experiences. Your work will be integral to the Enroll client journey, delivering strategic content and experiences that increase client satisfaction and deepen engagement with NM products and services.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Independently lead assigned programs and projects, completing components such as defining business requirements, success criteria, design/development and implementation plans.

  • Provide project leadership, including plan development, timeline and budget management, creative development and implementation

  • Partner/collaborate with business areas on delivering distinct client experiences through relevant communications that our clients understand and relate to

  • Write technical copy and lead internal/external teams that write the communications – ensure communications meet established standards

  • Ensure consumer-facing communications consistently represent NM’s brand look, feel, voice and promise while delivering the intended prospect/client experience

  • Collaborate with business partners and other Marketing teams to evaluate new, and optimize existing, programs and experiences to improve key business measures

  • Leverage cross-departmental relationships with Digital Product, CX, Creative, and product lines to ensure alignment with corporate marketing messages, brand standards and style guidelines

  • Partner with Insights teams to understand client and field needs and struggles, analyze insights to discover root cause, and develop solutions to address challenges, resulting in improved business outcomes

  • Guide work of internal partners, outside vendors, and project teams as appropriate to ensure execution that supports marketing and client communication objectives

  • Own or contribute to the development and implementation of formal processes and guidelines for creating, modifying and maintaining marketing and client communications across enterprise

  • Own or contribute to development and implementation of ongoing process for auditing materials, tracking costs and measuring effectiveness

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in marketing/communications, Business or related field

  • Minimum of six years’ experience in professional corporate, agency or financial industry specific marketing communications setting

  • Confirmed project and/or program management skills, with consistent record of handling multiple projects and deadlines in fast-paced team and independent environments

  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, listening, planning and thought leadership

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and build credibility and strong partnerships in matrixed organization across business functions and levels

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and development of consumer/client Communications

  • Proven ability to successfully engage and guide creative teams (may include writers, external consultants, etc.) to plan, conceive, develop and implement marketing communications initiatives

  • Knowledge and experience in financial services industry and/or insurance underwriting and new business is preferred.
