Summary

As a best-in-class enterprise Corporate Security Control Center Operator for Northwestern Mutual, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the 24/7/365 Northwestern Mutuals SCC, which is responsible for creating an environment that inspires others to achieve theirs by blending a thorough knowledge of security processes and technology with company values. 

  

Additionally, this position requires excellent attention to detail, as the SCC operator will proactively monitor and analyze data from intelligence platforms on emerging incidents, as well as other adverse situations that could negatively impact business operations and/or the safety and security of Northwestern Mutual workforce, facilities, guests, or assets. The SCC Operator will also monitor the department’s enterprise access control/video surveillance system for irregularities and assign resources, as appropriate. The ideal candidate will also rotate through posts in our enterprise security control centers, patrol our campuses in Milwaukee and Franklin, assist at the main lobbies and provide security at Company special events. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • In our security control centers you will serve as the primary business hours point-of-contact for the 24/7/365 Northwestern Mutual SCC to monitor the safety and security of Northwestern Mutual workforce, guests, and facilities.   

  • Monitor and dispatch alarms received from integrated security technology (access control, CCTV, intercoms, and fire alarms) and building automation systems. You will also coordinate response to emergency incidents using security technology and two-way radios, handle incoming/outgoing telephonic and electronic communication, process ID cards, and document activities using a variety of methods. 

  • Dispatch calls for service of reported incidents to security partners, emergency services (911), and other internal departments following proper policies and procedures.

  • When patrolling you will use an engagement model of behavior and make proactive observations of potential risks to ensure a safe and secure campus experience for our workforce and visitors. You will also serve as a first responder to emergency incidents 

  • Utilize a variety of global risk and intelligence platforms to monitor, identify, and mitigate business risk to the company, its employees, and assets presented by man-made events, natural disasters, or geopolitical developments. 

  • Monitor the travel plans of employees to ensure their safety and security when traveling on behalf of the company. 

  • Plan, prepare, and conduct regular tests of platforms, review test results, identify gaps and report results to security leadership. 

  • Compile daily reports and incident reports as needed.

  • Properly documents all employee, guest, and security partner-initiated activity and calls for service.

  • Monitor activities of security partners to help ensure efficient departmental operations and officer safety.

  • Serve as the primary resource during crisis events and incident escalation. 

  • Apply analytic methods and techniques to identify and analyze raw information for the purpose of substantiating alleged suspicious activity, generating investigative leads, and deducing the proper course of action. 

  • Apply inductive reasoning skills to provide a proactive approach to mitigate potential threats.

  • Ability to multi-task duties.  

  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor while working under stressful situations.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.

  • Ability to work designated schedule, which may include working on company holidays.

  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed. 

  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.

  • Ability to work corporate sponsored event at home office or off site as needed.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

  • High School Graduate or GED required. College degree preferred. 

  • AED/CPR certified within first 90 days 

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a corporate or professional environment that includes performance under demanding conditions

  • Excellent customer service in a professional environment

  • Experience using video management and access control systems

  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products

  • Proficient in reading and writing English language

  • Experience as a risk or intelligence analyst desirable

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

  • Able to work weekends and some holidays as part of the work schedule. 

  • THIS JOB IS PART OF A GROUP OF JOBS CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL SERVICES.  ALL ESSENTIAL SERVICES EMPLOYEES ARE EXPECTED TO MAKE EVERY REASONABLE EFFORT POSSIBLE TO REPORT FOR WORK; EVEN DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS.
