The Principal Product Manager at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in New York, NY will drive core product innovation to empower advisors and help clients achieve their financial goals. Work with a team of engineers, designers, data scientists, and financial experts to define product vision and strategy, and deliver experiences that drive business outcomes. Accountable for long-term vision of a suite of digital products, including multi-year funding strategies tied to business outcomes. Cultivate an understanding of what digital banking is and how it surfaces in experiences. Share in development of overall digital consumer product roadmap while being the primary owner of the digital banking product roadmap. Define and track success using frameworks such as Objective Key Results. Accountable for gathering all the requirements across the company to launch and build features for digital banking product roadmap. This includes technical requirements from partner companies, developers, enterprise architecture, design as well as non-technical requirements from legal, compliance, marketing, and sales (financial advisors). Set initial definition of what digital product. Work with internal design team to mockup initial product through product launch readiness using applications such as Figma or Sketch, iterating as required based on user feedback with a dedicated set of designers. Develop and maintain a prioritized backlog of user stories with the engineering team in Jira, a planning, tracking and management tool for agile and software development projects. Inform product decisions with both qualitative and quantitative data on behavior and experimentation. Facilitate with team through daily Scrums, Grooming, Sprint Planning Meetings and Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week. Salary $139,693 - $278,330 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field plus 3 years (or a bachelor’s degree plus 6 progressive years) of digital project management experience. Experience must include 3 years of experience with each of the following: (1) product lifecycle management in the banking or payments industry; (2) driving product vision across all levels of leadership, building strategic product roadmaps, translating business needs into product requirements and technical specifications ready for development, and working with business partners, design, architecture, engineering, as well as control functions including compliance and legal; (3) analytics and success metrics tracking; (4) product strategy and planning; (5) inside and outside market research to understand behaviors in the market, and engaging with customers, prospects, and partners to identify market needs and opportunities; (6) financial and business modeling; and (7) building pitch materials and business cases.
