The Investment Associate is responsible for the analysis, evaluation, and execution of private debt and equity investment opportunities offered to Northwestern Mutual Capital, LLC (NMC) by investment bankers, issuers, and private equity sponsors. Specific responsibilities include financial modeling and valuation analysis, completion of investment recommendation memos, conducting of industry and business due diligence. In this role, you will also meet with senior-level executives, investment bankers, and private equity sponsors to obtain a thorough understanding of the investment merits of the transaction. Investment Associates are also responsible for monitoring transactions in the NMC portfolio and for completing workouts of non-performing investments. Training is largely on-the-job in nature, with the Investment Associate operating in a team environment, and being given increasing responsibility over time. Specific responsibilities include financial modeling and valuation analysis, completing investment recommendation memos, conducting industry and business due diligence and meeting with senior level executives, investment bankers, and private equity sponsors to obtain a thorough understanding of the investment merits of the transaction. Investment Associates are also responsible for monitoring transactions in the NMC portfolio and complete workouts of non-performing investments. The Investment Associate, operating in a team environment, will be given increasing responsibility over time. Training will be largely on-the-job. Requirements include an MBA with a concentration in finance. A broad knowledge of investments, an understanding of economic forces affecting a wide range of industries, proficiency in accounting, and strong computer modeling skills are also required. The ability to communicate, orally and in writing effectively with corporate executives, attorneys, senior members of NMC and its parent company, and members of the investment community are also required. Previous relevant work experience is a plus. Professional designations (CFA, CPA) or progress toward them is also a plus.

This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
