The ESS Software Engineering team at Northwestern Mutual is responsible for creating and improving systems that ensure the company's field representatives are trained and prepared to meet the evolving needs of existing customers and potential customers. These systems provide the learning ecosystem to engage our financial representatives with best practices, product rollouts, and practice opportunities. The applications are varied and involve working in close partnerships with technical peers and business partners. You’ll be part of a team that plays a crucial role in ensuring this great company continues to do great things for its customers.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Applies engineering best practices in order to analyze and develop software solutions.

Develops software using established development and continuous integration practices.

Utilizes established monitoring and automation processes.

Conducts code evaluations.

Participates in setting team standards and best practices.

Ability and tenacity to take each performance issue as far as possible, often to the point of being able to suggest a fix

Ensure quality for our customers by validating Performance, Scalability, and Resiliency in our software solutions by designing, developing and executing tests, frameworks, tools, stubs.

Skilled at communicating the need & approach for Performance Tuning.

Has experience using testing tools/ frameworks relevant to their work (e.g. Jmeter,K6,gatling, loadrunner...).

Create comprehensive performance reports and share with key stakeholders to identify and triage performance gaps
-
Triage performance engineering support activities as required under the instructions of senior engineers & architects
-
Ability to Develop performance scripts using k6 and Load runner based on features/requirements/stories.

Capable of executing and designing, with appropriate guidance, performance testing at various application layers (API, middleware, database, infrastructure/environment)
-
Has a strong understanding of system load and stress levels for relevant applications in the domains they support.

Experience on Docker/Kubernetes Performance tuning concepts

Provide expertise in designing load, stress, baseline using CI/CD methodologies
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
-
3-5 years professional experience required in Performance Engineering
-
Familiarity using continuous integration and deployment concepts
-
At least 3+ years professional experience with Java / Python/Java script
-
Familiarity with public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Azure, Containerization)
-
Strong technical skills
-
Understanding of your business domain

Can communicate clearly to the business
