The Performance Improvement Consultant is responsible for aligning multi-disciplinary efforts in pursuit of functional/technical business outcomes at the organizational, team, and individual levels by partnering with stakeholders across the enterprise while identifying root causes, performance solutions, and organizational change issues. This role will work with value stream leadership to understand directional needs, identify resources and interdependencies across teams, and cohesively synthesize into implementable solutions. The Performance Improvement Consultant will work with departmental resources in communication and marketing, multimedia, project management, technology, analytics, and knowledge management. This role is crucial to enabling a differentiated knowledge sharing and continuous learning environment required for workforce capabilities in the immediate and future business environment. Requires a consistent track record in driving business outcomes for large clients/partners. This is a role that needs inspired individuals with a growth mindset focused on value creation.

Business Partner Performance Improvement

  • Initiates root cause analysis, systems thinking, process design, planning, organizational change, and developmental initiatives to improve functional, team, and individual proficiency and optimal performance in a constantly evolving environment.

  • Partners with assigned business areas (department/division/Director level) to proactively assess learning needs, identify innovative, relevant and effective learning solutions, and own the ongoing learning demand to support the strategic objectives of the business.

  • Develops learning strategies focused on modular and blended learning solutions. Champions new learning strategies and solutions. Drives the effective design, development and implementation of solutions, and develop associated metrics to assess the quality of the learning solution, as well as the business value of the learning solutions.

  • Acts as a change agent to lead, facilitate, and handle change across the value stream and function.

  • Develops performance improvement analysis and measurement approach.

  • Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and creative problem solving in the identification of potential solutions and alternatives; develop frameworks or innovations that enable problem resolution.

  • Owns the establishment of performance and process metrics, including baseline measures and targets as well as scorecards and dashboards.

  • Meets with internal and organizational clients to understand and assess business / functional / operational needs as well as technical and other requirements.

  • Provides thought leadership for new and emerging standard methodology models for business performance improvement initiatives and solutions; stay abreast and advise others of new and emerging topics/trends, standard methodologies, technologies, and capabilities.

  • Understands, analyzes, and structures undefined, sophisticated, and politically critical work.

  • Recommends and implement new procedures, processes, internal controls, roles and responsibilities, reporting techniques, and strategies to streamline workflow and enable team and individual performance outcomes.

  • Develops a performance consulting and continuous learning and improvement culture that is aligned with business goals and priorities.

  • Stays current on emerging learning and technology trends, as well as standard methodologies in the field of learning and performance solutions.

Project Management

  • Collaborates with performance consulting learning teams on effective tactical strategies and solutions to address performance needs. Leads learning solution engagements, from assessment and analysis through design, development and evaluation. Directs work of design team on large design efforts, including owning the scope, design timeline, resources, budget, technology and capabilities needed, and defining and tracking identified business and performance metrics.

  • Recognizes and acts significantly in urgent matters; make tough decisions which may influence the direction of the project.

  • Is responsible for the planning and work effort to gather, analyze, and interpret data and incorporate appropriately into work effort.

  • Balances a shifting workload and look after ambiguous circumstances while ensuring timely completion of work; lead a large number of responsibilities in the face of exciting priorities.

  • Anticipates project issues, assess alternatives, and take appropriate measures to resolve in a thoughtful manner.

Team Leadership

  • Is responsible for the work effort of various professionals assigned to specific learning and consulting engagements.

  • Maintains accountability for ongoing self-development and team development / knowledge acquisition activities and instill growth approach with all individuals.

  • Actively share knowledge with team members and employees across the department.

  • Assigns work to employees using appropriate levels of delegation and support to ensure fulfillment of requirements in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent career or military experience in performance improvement, business administration, project management, or workplace learning.

  • Must work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Is able to handle highly confidential information in a professional manner

  • Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in times of high stress

  • In depth experience in business operations and regulated financial or insurance environments

  • Ability to lead multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences

  • Ability to mentor, lead, and coach teams through organizational change

  • Self-motivated and capable of high performance under minimal supervision

  • Willingness to think outside the box when approaching root cause analysis and performance improvement

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and client relationship management skills

  • Experience and managing a team of direct reports

  • Master's degree in performance engineering, industrial organizational psychology, library information sciences, or related field

  • Certified Performance Technologist through International Society for Performance Improvement

  • Demonstrated business/financial acumen
