We are looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect to join our team. You will be a Pega platform expert and responsible to lead the solution architecture, design and implementation of Enterprise Case Management (ECM) and Customer Service for Insurance (CSI) in Pega software platform. This includes driving determining best practices, design patterns, strategic and tactical decisions aligning with creating a sustainable ECM and Service Interaction solutions on Pega platform. You will be asked to mentor fellow engineers, collaborate with several agile software engineering teams (including external partner resources), understand the business ask and, in collaboration with Product Manager, translate that into backlog stories for multiple teams. Your teams will look to you for technical leadership and best practices to guide their work handling back-end integrations to third-party vendors, internal data stores, and the implementation of internal logic such as business rules and data access controls. As a member of the Insurance and Client Advocacy Experience software engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on highly visible and important digital transformation efforts that provide outstanding experience to NM Home Office and Field representatives.
What you’ll do:

Define the application architecture target state for application run-time needs, with a particular focus on backend services

Document this application architecture in a practical fashion for engineers to implement software aligned with it

Promote the defined strategy and communicate to delivery teams to realize it

Provide thought leadership on application architecture & technology across Vice President and Engineering Lead levels and ensure that engineering and IT work is aligned with Northwestern Mutual’s business and technology strategies

Guide teams via the definition and recommendation of application architectural patterns, engineering practices and standards and partner with engineering leadership to promote their adoption across the organization

Provide day-to-day mentoring and coaching to junior architects and technical specialists

Ensure Technology Architecture meets financial, compliance, security and risk goals
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Partnering with other enterprise teams on emerging standard methodologies, patterns and technology to implement Pega ECM and Pega CSI
-
Creating patterns of automation for CI/CD, infrastructure deployment, maintenance, monitoring, security, and compliance using industry and enterprise best practice within the Pega platform
-
Continuously improve patterns and workflow by collecting and responding to feedback and key metrics.

Align DevOps initiatives to business priorities to implement Pega at NM

Mentors and guides other engineers within respective division.

Ensures production stability, monitoring, and root cause analysis is implemented for their products.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
-
9-14 years of professional experience required
-
8-10+ years of experience leading teams as an architect or engineer lead
-
Proven track record of successfully designing and delivering significant and impactful technology solutions.
-
Experience developing and leading solution delivery using agile methods.
-
Expert for the organization in one or more technologies: [insert as applicable when posting].

Successfully deals with ambiguity.

Recognized as the go-to expert within the division or department.

Ability to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences in varying forms and levels of detail.

Solid understanding of design patterns and architecture.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Must have Pega Certified Lead System Architect certification and be a qualified Principal System Architect.

Extensive knowledge of the financial services or insurance industry
-
6+ years of Pega experience as developer / architect
-
4+ years of Robotic Process Automation and or Remote Desktop Automation within the Pega platform
-
4+ years experience with CI/CD concepts and tools (i.e. GitLab, testing concepts, organizational change, blue/green, infrastructure as code)
-
4+ years experience with infrastructure automation tools or coding/scripting (i.e. ansible, terraform, python, JavaScript, PowerShell)
-
Expertise in one or more technologies: Microservices, event driven design, API design, cloud application architecture, data architecture
-
Extensive knowledge of the SDLC lifecycle process when development of Pega platform
-
Extensive knowledge of integrating Pega into custom built and or legacy systems.

Experience with estimation and developing roadmaps when planning a Pega Implementation

Creative problem-solving skills

Proactively share information and lead teams developing the Pega platform and related technology

Ability lead and guide others to solve complex technical issues

Ability to provide thought leadership throughout the department to ensure a successful Pega implementation

Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environment
