Marketing Data Analyst

The Marketing Data Analytics and Insights team is a consultative partner supporting all marketing Leadership at Northwestern Mutual. The Marketing Data Analyst reports to the Assistant Director, Marketing Data Analytics & Insights and will help support key business initiatives. The role is instrumental in supporting over 70 yearly campaigns and 30M emails delivered to our 4.5M Clients. This individual will partner closely with the Senior Marketing Data Analyst to deliver segmentation models, final campaign lists for use in direct to client communications, and standard reporting and insights post campaign deployment. Additionally, this individual will play a key role in project and process management within the team to enable improved efficiency, transparency, and prioritization.


  • Partner with data engineering on the campaign list requirements, run high level segmentation to define target audience, review results with marketing Leaders and create final list to be used in campaign deployments

  • Accountable for the delivery of existing monthly and quarterly reporting in support of marketing campaigns and important department metrics

  • Help design and develop standardized reporting and identify ways to display reports in an automated way for key partners to view and pull insights when needed

  • Support ad hoc data requests, develop reporting solutions to support key marketing initiatives, identify areas of improvements in current processes, and help standardize business processes to streamline creation of reports

  • Aid in overall project and process management; including documentation, meeting management, task prioritization, etc.

  • Partner with data engineering to handle Marketing data requests through Jira

  • Become subject matter expert to educate and inform peers on data definitions, uses and standard methodologies

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with an emphasis in Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing operations or analytics role

  • Working knowledge of marketing concepts and exposure to marketing programs

  • Knowledge of Database Structures, technical platforms, Excel, SQL, R-Script

  • Familiarity with Data Visualization tools and standard methodologies for creating dashboards & analyses

  • Strong quantitative skills including the ability to analyze and interpret data, with accuracy

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong process and project management skills with the ability to execute multiple projects concurrently

  • Strong aptitude and desire for learning new platforms, development, analytic and presentation tools

  • Must possess analytical skills; ability to solve complex problems required

  • Knowledge of all Northwestern Mutual products a plus

This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
