Investment Strategy
As an Investment Strategy Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. We are here to help you both identify and continue to develop your future career goals and passions.
Description
The Investment Strategy Department focuses on total portfolio management of the approximately $200 billion General Account, $4 billion retirement plans, and $4 billion long term care portfolio. Areas of emphasis include: i) setting the strategic asset allocation, ii) analyzing relative value opportunities across public and private markets and adjusting the tactical asset allocation weights, iii) researching and implementing out of benchmark investment mandates, and iv) overseeing the business planning process while assessing the impact investment decisions have on the firm’s financial statements.
The position will be located in the company’s home office in Milwaukee, WI.
Internship Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist portfolio managers with multi-asset class research and development of relative value and reporting models;
- Participate in market, liability, and business planning discussions with various departments across Northwestern Mutual;
- Develop capabilities and reports utilizing our new BlackRock Aladdin Risk service offering;
- Support the composite portfolio management process; and
- Partner with other members of the Investment Strategy Department to complete ad-hoc projects.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate student at a leading University with a concentration in Finance, Investments and Economics
- Superior oral and written communication skills;
- Passion to learn and immerse themselves in the capital markets; and
- Desire to be challenged.
