Front End Associate Software Engineer

We’re looking for a React/Node Engineer to build the next generation of digital tools (front-end components) in support of our company’s strategic objectives. As a member of our scrum team, the role requires an agile engineering mindset, patience and persistence to tackle complex problems, ability to get things done quickly but thoughtfully, and strong engineering skills.

The ideal candidate is a problem solver that enjoys coding including unit and automation testing. They are excited by the ideas of continuous integration and continuous delivery. They are driven to constantly improve and refine not only their own abilities but their organization as well. Effective communication skills including the ability to explain and document technical solutions to both engineering peers and non-technical business clients. Good interpersonal skills including working successfully with peers and with all levels throughout the enterprise.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops a robust understanding of digital products that you and your team support.

  • Builds, enhances, and supports those digital products with the mentorship of team.

  • Participates in code evaluations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • JavaScript

  • Web app development with React, HTML and CSS

  • Ideally familiarity with Node, otherwise an aptitude to learn advanced Node.js functionality

  • Bachelor's Degree, coding bootcamp/certification, or equivalent experience

  • Classroom programming experience with strong computer science fundamentals

  • Demonstrates a continuous learning mindset

  • Able to dissect problems and recommend solutions

  • Able to handle straight-forward tasks

  • Good communication skills both verbally and written, self-motivated, and ability to succeed in collaborative environment.

This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
