You will be joining the New Experiences Team in New York. This team is responsible for interactive tools available on NM.com and the content systems powering the brand. Specifically, this role focuses on the building and supporting of functionality extending the Content Management System and front end components used to power Northwestern Mutual’s website and portions of the client experience.
You will be working on projects that will define the future of the digital customer journey at Northwestern Mutual. Ideally you have crafted or contributed to public facing polished sites integrating a CMS with other front end frameworks and tools. To do this you have used Drupal 8+, understand how to create custom modules and integrations, and ideally have worked on headless or progressively decoupled sites. In addition, you have worked before in a software engineering environment and understand the processes related to the software lifecycle, such as creating 12-factor applications. The applications and tools you help develop will face prospective clients directly and have a high potential to impact the business.
Our engineers work within an Agile workflow and are passionate about solving complex problems. We also believe in full ownership and expect teams to own all parts of the software, from architecture and testing to production monitoring and performance optimizations.
Work closely within the engineering team, working to extend the CMS in use at Northwestern Mutual.
Development of specific front end pieces of northwesternmutual.com using a modern front end stack.
Work with partner teams like our marketing and our design organization to help create an amazing end to end experience.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience using headless Content Management Systems, and specifically working knowledge of Drupal 8+ including configuration, the Drupal API and tools/frameworks related to this stack. (Code samples or a drupal.org profile is very much appreciated!)
You understand modern PHP with regards to drupal 8 custom module development. You are comfortable navigating this ecosystem.
You have used a modern front-end framework (vue/react/angular) with working knowledge of current front-end trends, best practices, and web standards
An understanding of fundamental CSS paradigms and familiarity with front-end CSS frameworks
An understanding of system architecture and how it relates to a content management system
An understanding of relational databases
Usage of CI/CD and build tools
This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
