Data Privacy Consultant

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Represent privacy across the enterprise consulting on the privacy program which has been implemented to ensure continued compliance with privacy laws and regulations, foster the continued trust of our customers, and establish readiness for the future so that privacy acts as a differentiator that helps unlock the value of data.
  • Plan, monitor, and manage internal projects to completion.  Identify and solve problems with straightforward solutions.
  • Responsible for conducting risk assessments and risk oversight to ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulation.  This is achieved through:
    • Understanding and applying the Enterprise Data Classification model.
    • Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments on collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
    • Collaborating in technology assessments (acting as a member of the Compliance by Design committee) by representing the Privacy function and providing functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Relied on as the Privacy expert and collaborating across the Enterprise, Affiliates and field force on privacy initiatives and issues. This includes:
  • Generating own meetings and stakeholder relationships
  • Instructing and guiding stakeholders through protocol and some architecture of solutions
  • Partnering with legal counsel as needed for consultation
  • Creating and providing privacy training and content.
  • Partners with departments and projects to identify issues, proposals, or plans that have privacy implications and resolves existing issues.
  • This includes analyzing current state and preparing for evolving privacy and transforming technology environments
  • Ability to capture complex risks and technical solutions in an easy to understand written synapsis
  • Works closely with internal stakeholders to manage and coordinate privacy policies, procedures, and resource materials.
  • Accountable for understanding changes to the privacy program that are based on regulatory changes, understanding business and technology strategy changes, and maintaining awareness of consumer expectations relative to privacy.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in an equivalent position.
  • business." Certified Privacy-related experience with certification, such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) strongly preferred. 
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to foster partnerships even while having difficult conversations.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact, influence, and persuade others.
  • Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and carry out multiple, diverse assignments.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation and platform speaking skills.
  • Ability to draft and explain policies, control objectives, and standards relating to privacy.
  • Understanding of privacy frameworks, such as NIST, ISO, and SANS.
  • Understanding of the Financial Service Industry
  • Understanding of Technologies (Functionalities of SaaS) and technology concepts; MS Excel; MS SharePoint
  • Understanding Lines of Defense Understanding; RSA Archer Experience (Nice to have)
  • Ability to create and document repeatable processes
