Job Description
In this role you will focus on the day-to-day execution of the Business Continuity Planning framework initiatives with the purpose of ensuring that the firm’s critical business functions can effectively respond, adapt, recover, and continue operating during and following business disrupting events.
Responsibilities include supporting business continuity planning activities and initiatives such as business continuity planning lifecycle activities, stakeholder training and awareness, testing and exercising, compliance and oversight, status and metric reporting, policy and standards, recovery capabilities, supporting tools and capabilities. You will be working with all levels of the organization to ensure engagement and execution.
Job Responsibilities

Oversee all ongoing activities related to the definition, development, coordination, testing and maintenance of the company's Business Continuity Plan (BCP) by providing BCP consulting services to project teams and operating units.

Provide support in strategic roadmap initiatives

Execute the annual business continuity lifecycle with stakeholders and business liaison’, including but not limited to implementing the Business Impact Analysis, review and refresh of BC Plans, exercising, and obtaining leadership certification.

Coordinate the execution of testing, review of exercise results, ensuring documentation of exercise finds and tracking remediation efforts.

Ensure all regulatory requirements (e.g. FFIEC, OCC, FRB), are being adhered to, propose applicable updates to policies and procedures.

Perform risk assessments, identify issues and/or control gaps, analyze gaps, document, and report findings, and recommend remediation plans to management.

Lead company-wide initiatives and/or projects related to business continuity and crisis management to assure Northwestern Mutual resiliency.

Initiate and direct companywide BCP communication and education of all staff to make certain that company practices conform to BCP standards and that all staff is aware of their responsibilities as well as the company plan.

Provide consultation to departments on the operation of the enterprise Business Continuity Program offering training, guidance and assistance.

Validate and challenge data and results to ensure risk ratings are accurately stated, agreed to, and understood.

Drive business continuity risk management requirements, including efforts to improve efficiency and ensure alignment with enterprise risk management practices.

Ensure timely status reporting of program activities and performance metrics to BC stakeholders.

Provide support as needed in the development and reporting to executive and board level committees.

Support the Enterprise Crisis Management program by maturing the crisis management processes and methodologies, and actively participating during crisis events.

Provide support for internal audits and regulatory exams.

Conduct third-party reviews to ensure critical business partners and vendors have adequate recovery strategies in place to support critical business processes.

Travel and/or work evenings and/or weekends as business needs require.
Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business, Information Systems or Project Management OR a significant amount of directly related work experience beyond the minimum required for the position.

Minimum of 5 to 7 years of industry experience and/or understanding of NM's business processes and products

Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels within the organization through the use of effective customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to respond to changing business needs, deal with ambiguity; and manage and prioritize multiple concurrent responsibilities.

Ability to influence without direct authority.

Proven ability to gather and analyze data for effective decision making.

Outstanding project management skills demonstrated through successful leadership of company-wide initiatives.

Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
-
Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) accreditation preferred.

Broad knowledge of company organization and operations with the ability to identify the impact on the company of new or changed business processes/functions.
