Business Analyst Internship, Summer 2022

Internship candidates can expect a fulltime onsite internship program, running from June 1, 2022 to August 12, 2022.  

Carefully selected from universities across the country, our interns bring distinctive ideas and perspectives to our organization. Our employees are passionate about building our emerging talent and future leaders. After application and initial screening conversation, interns are aligned interview and be hired to a specific team at NM based on their skillsets and interests, providing exposure to real-world business perspectives through hands-on learning and meaningful work. In addition to their day-to-day tasks, interns participate in professional development workshops, senior leadership Q&A's, volunteer initiatives, networking/social events, and more!  

Business Analyst Internship   

As a Business Analyst Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. We are here to help you both identify and continue to develop your future career goals and passions. See below for our current list of internship opportunities available in our Business Analyst departments: 

  • Digital Product:  Define a problem statement, analyze/evaluate solutions, and deliver a feature/features that deliver business results through technology.  Work with a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, designers, and subject matter experts in an agile methodology. 

  • Design : Support the design organization across product design, content strategy, and service design. Contribute to design work of the organization’s digital platforms. Department placement can include: CX Design, Enterprise Experience Design, Planning Experience, Content Strategy, Program Management.  

  • Investment Product Service s: Assist the best interest program office, which serves the enterprise for project management, financial services products, service and operations, technology, change management, communications, law, compliance and risk and controls.  Support and serve the 12,000 financial professionals to assist clients with their financial goals and objectives.  

  • Client Advocacy Planning & Execution:  Support Client Advocacy Center of Excellence development. Assist Program management team with organization of project documentation and published information. Generates monthly performance metrics for review and analysis. 

Bring Your Best! What this role needs. Minimum qualifications  

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Psychology, Communication, Information Science, Project Management or related field from an accredited college or university 

  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher 

  • Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following: Content strategy, visual design, data analytics, behavior science, or project management   

  • Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role

Preferred skills and proficiencies  

  • Previous Content strategy, visual design, data analytics, behavior science, or project management internship and/or relevant project experience 

  • Experience with Power BI and data analytics tools 

  • Effective oral and written communication skills 

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability 

  • High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a drive to learn  

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities
