Associate Test Engineer

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Executes standard test design techniques (e.g. equivalence partitioning, BVA) with a firm understanding of 'good' requirements / acceptance criteria. 
• Maintains relevancy with industry best practices in test case writing and common test execution techniques (Exploratory Testing, UI testing). 
• Exhibits familiarity / awareness of Agile testing (Agile testing pyramid/ quadrants, test first methodologies like BDD & TDD, test case writing, equivalence partitioning, BVA). 
• Assists with metrics and reports on test progression. 
• Understands products, processes, and business domain's systems and data flows within business area to execute testing requirements / needs. 
• Creates and executes typical test cases and adapts testing to context, with guidance. 
• Accurately logs defects utilizing the principles of defect management. 
• Understands what constitutes good requirements and acceptance criteria.


• Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS or related field.

• No Previous Experience Required

• Highly technical and analytical hands-on experience in prior professional, educational, or personal projects.

• Understands typical test design techniques (e.g. equivalence partitioning, BVA).
• Experience with, and awareness of, best practices in test case writing as well as test execution techniques (e.g. Exploratory Testing, UI Testing) 
• Understands what constitutes good requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Exhibits basic knowledge of programming languages relevant  to the context of the work. 
• Familiar with testing frameworks relevant to the area they are supporting. 
• Has a high level understanding of test automation concepts.
• Demonstrates basic understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
• Has basic awareness of key tools needed to successfully test.

This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
