Associate Database Engineer

What's the role?

  • At Northwestern Mutual we are looking for a hardworking technologist who is looking to grow their career as a Database Engineer, you will be part of the infrastructure engineering team for the DB2 LUW database technology.
  • You will also have the opportunity to learn and work with other database and automation related technologies. This role will have involvement in the designing of system solutions, implementing new features, resolving incidents and problems, and consultation with application support and development staff.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Apply engineering standard methodologies in order to analyze, develop, deploy and support software solutions.
  • Develop software using continuous Deployment and integration practices.
  • Participate in an Agile implementation and maintenance of source control and release procedures.
  • Participate in Code Reviews and feedback to the team
  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions.
  • Identify data quality issues and their root causes. Propose fixes and design data audits.

Bring your best! what this role needs:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • College level programming classes.
  • Code Knowledge: Python, JVM (Java, Scala),Apache Spark, SQL.
  • Aware of Agile methodologies/DevOps environment.
  • Novice programming skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction.

This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
