Assistant Director - Practice Management

The Practice Management Team is the preferred partner advisors choose to help them build a profitable business that puts them at the center of their clients' financial lives. Practice Management services advise field leadership, career advisors, ensemble practices and their teams. The Practice Management Assistant Director is responsible for building out, maturing, and supporting the Lead Advisor program.

This role will facilitate and drive strategy development and execution as it relates to Practice Management support, services, and operations. In addition, the Assistant Director will be tightly connected to research and development of Practice Management, Succession and Ensemble Platform systems within the financial services industry and within Northwestern Mutual, serve as a leader with vision to internal business partners and to the field around the Practice Management and Succession subject areas.

The Assistant Director will support and serve as a subject matter expert to priorities and initiatives that are integral to Practice Management to advance support across all practice models. Additionally, the role would work to develop cross-functional relationships to build Practice Management advocates with Home Office Business Partners and the Field as well.

  • Helps preferred partner advisors build a profitable coordinated business that puts them at the center of their clients' financial lives* consult to field leadership, career advisors, ensemble practices and their teams.
  • Responsible for building out, maturing and supporting the Lead Advisor program *developing and completing a strategic direction for succession planning, and other strategic operational projects across all field practice models.
  • Facilitate and drive strategy development and execution as it relates to Practice Management support, services, and operations
  • Serves as an inspiring leader to internal business partners and to the field around the Practice Management team
  • Supports and serve as a subject matter expert to priorities and initiatives that are integral to Practice Management in order to advance support across all practice models
  • Develops cross-functional relationships to build Practice Management advocates with Home Office Business Partners and the Field as well

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or dynamically responsible work experience.

Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in financial services or other business, finance, and marketing functions, with experience in client-facing business consulting and management or other related experience.

Strong leadership skills including but not limited to strategic agility, priority setting, leading and measuring work, organizational agility, influencing skills, and commit to results.

Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making as well as skills in business and financial analysis Strong communication skills (oral and written) with ability to design and deliver presentations and build written reports with regards to both operational results and future operational strategy.

Demonstrated ability to successfully lead multiple large scale, complex projects to independently solve sophisticated business problems in a dynamic environment.

Proven ability to navigate and quickly establish rapport at all levels of the home office and third parties High degree of self-motivation and thought leadership to take the initiative for sharing information, contributing towards group goals and being accountable for results.

Experience with Financial Services Practice Management or Ensemble business model philosophies/programs and/or business consulting.

MBA desired.
