The Practice Management Team at Northwestern Mutual is the preferred partner our most sophisticated advisors utilize to help build, grow and transition their integrated, multi-generational firms.  With exclusive access to resources and strategic partners, we equip advisors - as business owners- with solutions designed to help them achieve their most important objectives, including human capital, business mergers & acquisitions, continuity & transitions, financial management and practice efficiency.

As Assistant Director - Practice Management you will work with team members, advisors and industry partners to develop new and optimize existing practice management content, tool and resources.

Working independently and with others, you will define and implement distinctive consulting approaches for use by Home Office consultants, field leaders and industry partners to help advisors realize their most important goals. You’ll bring your intellectual curiosity to research, build, and develop creative solutions to new problems. And you’ll work closely with advisors to test, learn, and modify to ensure the best solutions.

Integrating practice management resources from aligned strategic partners, you will transform the Advisors’ Practice Management Experience of building, growing and transitioning their business within Northwestern Mutual.

Accountabilities include:  

·       As Business Owner for Northwestern Mutual’s 3rd party Practice Management Partner Program, execute on the strategic direction for all aspects of the program, including management of overall program health, partner identification, integration and promotion of partner content & resources for use by NM Advisors.

·       Collaborate with internal and external partners to mature NM’s industry-leading Succession Navigator tools and resources addressing the build, grow and transition needs of NM advisors, ensembles and sophisticated firms.

·       Expansion of the Practice Management Strategic Narrative including alignment of the packaging and promotion of NM and 3rd party practice management content tools and resources.

·       Participate and lead cross functional initiatives in support of transformation of NM’s distribution system

·       Support and serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader to priorities and initiatives that are integral to Practice Management in order to advance support across all practice models.

 

Bring your best! What this role needs:

·       Bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or progressively responsible work experience. MBA desired.

·       Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in financial services or other business, finance, and marketing functions, with experience in client-facing business consulting and management or other related experience.

·       High degree of self-motivation, thought leadership and initiative for learning new skills, sharing information, contributing towards group goals and being accountable for results.

·       Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making skills including business and financial analysis.

·       Strong leadership skills including but not limited to strategic agility, priority setting, managing and measuring work, organizational agility, influencing skills, and drive for results.

·       Strong communication skills (oral and written) with ability to design and deliver presentations

·       Demonstrated ability to successfully and independently manage multiple projects to solve complex business problems in a dynamic environment.

·       Proven ability to navigate and quickly establish rapport at all levels of the home office and third parties.

·       Experience with Financial Services Practice Management or Ensemble business model philosophies/programs and/or business consulting.
