Assistant Director – Enterprise Client Experience

What's the role?

This position is responsible for consumer research work streams that impact and inform on the near and long-term success of Northwestern Mutual. Drive client centricity throughout the organization by developing and running primary research and completing in-depth analysis to identify trends and extract insights relevant to Northwestern Mutual’s strategic direction. As findings will be presented directly to senior leadership, to thrive in the role, a blend of analytical prowess, discernment, curiosity and strong communication / interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Design, execute and handle the day-to-day operations of primary client / consumer research programs, with a focus on tracking

  • Perform any required analysis and interpretation necessary to share key metric results and develop insights, from data linked to these programs

  • Manage external (vendor) and internal service partners, where applicable

  • In general, support the Senior Director of Enterprise Client Experience and the broader Strategy Integration Team to leverage consumer research to benefit the organization

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Marketing, Social Sciences or related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience

  • Demonstrated analytical background with proven record for structuring and solving problems, drawing conclusions, and formulating recommendations

  • Skilled at understanding business problems and driving to recommendations or insights using both quantitative and qualitative data analysis

  • Ability to generate new and innovative approaches to problems, ask questions and respectfully challenges current processes and brings new ideas to the table and strives for continual improvement in client experience

  • Proficient in Excel, SPSS, SQL, R, or other prominent data visualization / analysis tools

  • Consistent track record for running multiple research projects simultaneously

  • Experience packaging and delivering stories in PowerPoint

  • Works well in a collaborative environment, with colleagues at varying levels

  • Superior communication skills

  • Ability to influence, build credibility and strong partnerships across business functions and levels

  • Familiarity with how to read / interpret, and report on advanced analytics typically associated with consumer research, such as key driver modeling preferred

  • Proficiency with data collection and / or dashboard programming within Qualtrics XM platform preferred
