Summary

Accountable for advancing our Data Governance Practice through Product Management and Operations

  • Establishes a vision for the Data Governance Program to meet company objectives

  • Build, manage, and grow a team of data governance professionals focused on Product Management, Strategy, and Operations

  • Partner with other product organizations to ensure cross function dependencies are established and managed

  • Establishes strong relationships across Information Technology and the Business in order to advance and mature data governance

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Vision: Sets the mid-term (1-2 year) vision of a product including how they will produce business outcomes. Responsible for cultivating an environment of understanding the products. Manages the full product life cycle from strategic planning, building and execution, maintenance and support to end of life retirement.

  • Goals: Sets the product objectives and key results for a product. Aligns the engineering and design team around a common set of goals based on product features.

  • Roadmap: Accountable for providing high-level direction that illustrates the epics and features that will be delivered across a portfolio of products or platform and how it integrates with other cross functional team efforts.

  • Requirements: Accountable for gathering higher level, more complex product requirements and have a general understanding/knowledge of products they are responsible for. Reviews and validates requirements gathered within team.

  • Defines the Product: Identifies and validates problems and/or opportunities for multiple user groups/scenarios across the company. Aligns stakeholders and documents high-level business requirements or manages vendor relationships and any applicable request for proposal (RFP) or proof of concept (POC) processes.

  • Communication: Collaborates cross functionally with business partners including engineering, privacy, legal, and audit to allow for the smooth and efficient flow of product activities.

  • Prioritization: Responsible for setting long term goals for both products and team members. Accountable for helping teams track progress against Key Results and helps balance priorities with corporate strategic initiatives or the introduction of new products.

  • Leadership: Creates the future by fostering an engaging environment and encourage accountability and development. Breaks down barriers so individuals and teams can be accountable and responsible to do their best. Aligns employee's passion to business value outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field

  • 8-12 years of IT experience, including 3-5 years showing success in data governance discipline

  • Prior leadership experience required

  • Minimum of 2 years of project management/coordination tracking

  • Understanding of data management and governance toolsets and the value they bring to the organization

  • Ability to think outside the box and coming up with new, innovative solutions to accomplish problems, ideas and tasks

  • Ability to evaluate and recommend solutions which will be used across the enterprise

  • Oversee multiple work efforts at once and assure that they deliver expected outcomes within their stated timelines

  • Solve problems quickly and learn/adapt from mistakes. Work using lean and agile methods to be able to quickly address issues

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving experience

  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization skills

  • Initiate timely follow up and be a self-starter with the ability to manage and complete abstract assignments

  • Build strong collaborative working relationships with leadership and team members

  • Must be flexible and open to incorporating new tools and solutions in order to deliver best results to the business

  • Ability to work as a team member - player/coach, creating and maintaining effective working relationships

  • Possesses excellent writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to understand and communicate concepts and recommendations

  • Effectively understand and deal with problems and opportunities, which arise, in a complex environment is crucial.
