Assistant Director - Corporate and Bank Markets

What you will do:

Develop and direct the strategy, goals and sales support efforts for large case sales of corporate and bank cases. In this role the incumbent leads projects, training programs and sales promotion initiatives that promote NM's overall growth of large case sales, as well as devising strategies that improve NM's position in the non-qualified executive benefit and large personal insurance markets. In addition, provides key strategic counsel and participates in new product development for corporate and estate market products.

How you will do it:

  • Provides advanced case training, sales advice, technical advice and marketing support to financial representatives working in the corporate and bank market while assisting the division in efforts to establish more representatives in the corporate market.
  • Provides direction and technical support to Home Office departments, including Actuarial, Investments, New Business, and Underwriting Standards; provides back-up advanced case support in the estate market.
  • Provides direction to Information Systems Department (IS) to build software programs needed for the sales and service of insurance in the corporate market and provides the sales and plan information needed by IS to develop, maintain and improve the Executive Benefit software system.
  • Provides advanced case support for financial representatives, their clients and prospects, and third party advisors throughout the executive benefit planning process; this includes technical phone support, case analysis, executive benefit plan and product design, math- guiding illustrations, risk analysis, financial underwriting, and implementation for the complex cases.
  • Coach and counsel other team members on complex cases consultations, including acting as the primary lead for negotiation with Actuarial, Investments, and New Business on all large cases, and particularly those that require product, risk, premium limit or procedure/process exceptions.
  • Conducts training for the advanced markets, executive benefits, advanced planning, planning and sales and other NM sponsored schools and seminars; training is conducted at the Home Office and in the field.
  • Designs and implements training schools for the executive benefit software system.
  • Develops and implements new products and modifications to existing products for the corporate and estate markets.
  • Consults with other Home Office departments including Actuarial, POS, IS, New Business and Underwriting Standards on new products and other special projects.
  • Leads effort in IS to direct development, enhancement and maintenance of NM Executive Benefit Software Systems and, with Advanced Business Services, assists in the development, enhancement and maintenance of service support systems.
  • Contributes to the performance management process and works to develop team members in the division.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in insurance sales, preferably as a network financial advisor, a financial planner, or an investment advisory representative, or an equivalent amount of time spent in home office planning and sales.
  • An actuarial background may also be considered appropriate.
  • CFP or CLU; or JD and three to five years experience planning with clients and attainment of CFP or CLU/ChFC.
  • Experience working with the NM field force and deep knowledge of NM risk products and executive benefit planning required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with financial planning tools / concepts.
  • Presentation and training experienced required.
  • Validated leadership skills including negotiating, persuasion and influence, leadership, delegation, organizational change, planning and organization.
  • Experience leading projects or ownership for divisional and cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Travel up to 20%.
